5 Geometric Tile Favorites

Tile is one of those things that can really make a space feel completely custom and add an extra layer of style to a space. And right now it is having a moment! Tile is becoming more central to designs and has more options than ever before and we are here for it! But, in the same breathe, the sheer amount of options can be so overwhelming, so we’ve put together our favorite 5 geometric tiles at the moment. They are colorful, bold, so fun, and completely different from each other! We’ve put together some realistic renderings to showcase a couple (of many) ways to use our favorites.

  1. Fireclay Dot Dash Tile

First off, I LOVE Fireclay Tile. They have such a dreamy selection of colors and patterns, and even better they are constantly working towards making the design/tile industry more sustainable, inclusive, and overall just better. And that’s something I love to get behind. Read more about their story here. To get back on track though- their Dot Dash tile is a group of 8 different patterns meant to be playful and can be organized in a bunch of ways.

I used their Configuration A because feels very put together, but doesn’t feel super repetitive, AND uses all of the tiles in the collection. They have a couple colors and can do custom as well, but this muted green was perfect for this kitchen! Dark flooring, mid tone cabinets, and the muted tile play together super well and feels very mid century, but updated as well. It looks good at every angle!

And this extra pop of green is great too! It feels refreshing, but still pulls everything together.

Ugh! This may be my absolute favorite of all time. It’s the best combination of playfulness, but still creates a beautiful space, and less overwhelm than other super patterned tiles (which you’ll see if you keep scrolling).

2. Bert & May Soho House Berlin Tile

I recently was introduced to the beauty that is this Bert & May tile (thanks Amy!). I was OBSESSED the moment I saw it and it actually is the inspiration for this blog post. It has a beautiful triangle pattern with bright and happy colors and has the ability to be used with so many color palettes, which makes it way more versatile than you’d probably think. I have 3 ways of using the tile to show the variety, while also keeping the colors similar.

Probably the most neutral way to use the tile is on the floor, especially in a small space. It gives some of the desired color, but is easier to dress down and make less bold. OR add bold elements with a yellow sink to make a bright and sunny feeling powder bath.

Another option to use it on the main wall (I love this configuration of the tile too!) and ceiling. The vanity in this case is a white oak and is super neutral, with the pop of color to accentuate the tile pattern is the pulling the blue into the sconces and the door. You can totally paint one side of a door to bring color just into one space and leave the other side as is!

A bold option (without putting it EVERYWHERE) is to use it on the floor and as a wainscotting. And then pump up the boldness with a bright pink vanity, and white oak accents. This tile is just too fun and I may be trying to figure out where to incorporate it into my home. Besides powder baths, it would be great in a boho entry, children’s bathroom, cheery kitchen, or to add color to a primary bath too. Honestly where ever you want to have a fun space that makes you smile and instantly lift your mood when you walk in.

3. Haustile Harvey Classic and Tri

Haustile is another company that is killing the patterned tile game. They have so many fun patterns and color combinations and I want to use them all! This Harvey tile stuck out to me as a twist on the traditional checkered tile and a basement bar area seemed like a match made in heaven. It feels urban, moody, sleek, and like a personal speakeasy.

The first render is using the Harvey Tri tile, which feels the most like the modern checkered flooring. We added some texture with the wood slats, lots of low lighting, and this specific basement is a walkout, so there’s natural sunlight as well.

The other pattern that stuck out to me was the Harvey classic with this rotated pattern. It feels a bit psychedelic, but still muted and functional.

Seriously, this basement bar area would be so great for parties. Just imagine a pool table, comfy sectional, darts, etc. (whatever you want to do when you hang with your people) and everyone hanging around. It’s simple, classic, updated, and perfect.

BTW, if you didn’t notice, this tile has an army/camo green with the black and white and a bit of pink as well. Not super noticeable, but adds another layer to the tile.

4. Daltile Eclettica Deco

I liked the pattern of this tile, but when I got the sample I fell in love! It has a texture to it that I love and has specs of gold that aren’t seen in the images. It feels muted, but fun and definitely deco (I get the name now). It would go with so many rooms, but I felt a strong pull towards a laundry room for it. I love a good fun laundry room, but sometimes a muted room is perfect and exactly what you need.

Paired with a minty cabinet, accents of deep blue, and a muted gray-ish floor tile, we get a serene laundry that still has flavor. I would do laundry in this room literally anytime. I know we aren’t talking space planning, but if I had this much counterspace, a sink, and storage in my laundry I may be more motivated to keep up with it. IYKYK.

You could also go very monochromatic! Nothing on the layout changed- Can you believe it?!? We added the same tile to the floor and changed the cabinets to a fun blue picked up from the tile. It feels so bright, and airy and calming. A good monochrome space is amazing!

On a totally different note- you could also go super fun and do a bright cabinet like a yellow or orange to do the opposite of the monochrome look. OR keep it super laid back and have a light wood toned cabinets if painted cabinets aren’t your thing. The possibilities are always endless! Either way this Daltile tile has a beautiful geometric pattern, while still being a bit muted and super versatile.

5. Tile Club Japandi Slat Wall Tile

So this tile isn’t colorful like the previous ones, BUT it sure creates a bold space and strong lines! Ugh… I can totally feel the absolute VIBE that it creates. I can only describe it as nature-inspired, cozy, bold, luxurious, and calming. How many designs can say they feel cozy and luxurious at the same time?! As I was putting together the design board and render for this tile, I had this overwhelming urge to go to a sauna and take a relaxing moment. Do you feel it looking at these renders?

Can you tell by the shear number of images that this bath came out beautifully?! It looks fantastic from every angle and I had to show them all off!

Conclusion

These 5 tiles barely scratch the surface of what’s out there for geometric tile options and I’ll probably have new favorites in a week (or maybe an hour depending on my mood), but they are so beautiful and unique and a bold introduction to geometric tiles if you haven’t thought much about them before.
